Effective communication is well recognised as the basic skill underlying success in the workplace.
Those who have the ability to express their thoughts and ideas orally, to interact personally with
others and to use words confidently and persuasively, will have the leading edge in the workplace
no matter what their role or responsibilities.
These skills may be learned from early primary school days. These will enable school students to
share their ideas confidently with their peers and to gain leadership skills that will fit them for
the workplace.
For some students it is not until their adolescent years that they realise the need for public speaking
training to give them the confidence to step out into their adult lives.
| As soon as adults begin to market themselves they often realise that the MOST important skill is public speaking.
Often people who have been in the workforce for many years come to realise that the skills they most need are: |
| |
* vocal impact |
| |
* general oral communication skills |
| |
* interpersonal skills |
| |
* a customer service approach |
| |
* ability to handle conflict positively |
All of these skills are included in public speaking training at the Caisley Communication Consultancy. Students may
learn in small groups or enjoy the specialised attention of private tuition where their particular needs
can be met.
| Students may choose whether they want the endorsement of an external assessment offered by Speech New Zealand. |
| |
* school students may enter examinations in the Graded syllabus or Communicating in Leadership. |
| |
* adults already in the workplace may enter Vocational Speech examinations. |
